Siemens, the German industrial giant, is embarking on a groundbreaking urban development project in Berlin’s Siemensstadt. This project, valued at 4.5 billion euros, aims to transform the area into a vibrant hub of innovation, living, and workspaces. Despite the challenges posed by World War II, the division of Berlin, and the construction of the Berlin Wall, Siemensstadt endured. Now, with Siemens shifting its focus towards digital technology, this revitalization project signifies a new chapter in the area’s history.
As Siemens reimagines Siemensstadt for the 21st century, there are notable changes in its approach to housing. Unlike in the past, where the company built homes for its employees, Siemens will collaborate with developers to construct 2,500 residences.
